Passion fuels all of Lucia Potter’s aspirations

Lucia Sekororo, better known as Lucia Potter, is an all-rounder that is following her dreams.

The 28-year-old Midrand resident said she grew up wanting to become an actress but because she lived in a small town she knew it would be impossible to realise her dream.

Sekororo added that she decided to move to Johannesburg in 2016 and today she is a professional actress, DJ and commercial model. “Once I moved to Johannesburg, I made sure to follow my dream of becoming an actress,” she said.

She added that her love for music made her decide to become a DJ. “I had to go to Pioneer DJ Institute to learn how to DJ which was a great choice because I’ve always wanted to make people dance.”

Sekororo shared advice on how she kept her elevator-like success going up. “I plan yearly, each year I plan to be better at what I am doing.

“Wanting to be the best actress, so that in five years from now I will be featured in a few Mzansi television soapies and movies.

“I always look at Black Coffee and wonder if I would one day play at an international gig, but I believe if I push harder I’ll get recognition abroad.”

She said although she was optimistic, she was aware of her challenges and did take them into account. “There’s no quick way to success, there will always be obstacles on the way. I am not the only person trying to pursue a career as an actress, perfecting my craft is what I am focusing on at the moment while working on a breakthrough.

“I believe in time, it may not be my time yet but someone else’s, my time is definitely coming. Passion and good work are what keeps one in their field of work.”
