Man caught with ‘stolen’ taps in Rabie Ridge

MAYIBUYE – Community members call on police after seeing a suspicious man walking around selling water taps.


Rabie Ridge police were tipped off by concerned community members in Mayibuye after seeing a suspicious man selling water taps.

According to the Rabie Ridge Police Station spokesperson, Constable Jacob Nhlongo, at around 1.30pm police were informed that a man was walking around the neighborhood selling water taps.

“Upon the arrival of police, the male suspect was found walking next to a house in Bulelwa Makomane Street. When asked where he got the taps he said that he had picked them up at a nearby field.”

The police officers inspected the taps and found that they looked new and the suspect’s story did not make sense. “The man was arrested and detained at the Rabie Ridge Police Station. He was charged with possession of suspected stolen goods and will be appearing at the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.”

Mayibuye’s sector manager Sergeant Nzamani Xirindza added, “I want to thank those community members who took initiative in calling the police when they saw something wrong.

“Community members should know that if they report such things to the police their identity’s will be protected.”
