Acts House learners excited about coding robotics

GLEN AUSTIN – The Acts House of Education take on coding and robotics every Saturday.


The learners at Acts House of Education are taking on coding and robotics.

The Glen Austin-based school introduced a co-curricular activity every Saturday with partnerships for different grades.

Spokesperson for the school Zeenath Sathiah said, “Principal Anny Breedt adhered to the government regulations to implement and manage digital technology in schools from 2020.

“Together with her leadership team, they started with an in-depth research campaign and spent a considerable amount of time making sure that they select professional companies to collaborate with, in order to educate their learners in the fundamentals of Stem [science, technology, engineering and mathematics] subjects.”

The school has partnered with the Kids Coding Academy for their Grade 4 class. The grades 5 and 6 classes work with Microbotics RSA to learn the fundamentals in building and programming their own mechanical devices while the grades 7 to 9 classes received training from the a group of young engineers.

Principal Anny Breedt said, “We are very excited about the development of digital technology as a 21st century learning tool. We do however understand the negative effect of the digital world in society and hope to counter its effects in the way we approach technology in our school.”
