Ivory Park author shares her story from heartbreak to self-discovery

MIDRAND – Local author shares her personal love story which shaped her for the better.

A local author has shared her personal love story in her first book titled Single Again.

In the book, Ivory Park-born Tintswalo Christian Nkuna delves into the ups and downs she has gone through to find herself. The book highlights how to get back on your feet, learn from your experiences and live life to the fullest after a break-up.

In her book, Nkuna shares how she started liking a guy when she was 13 years old. She said, “I saw him coming to school, all well-dressed in uniform and I was flattered. We became friends, started dating when I was 17, after that we had a child and then he paid lobola after some time.”

However, several years later he came back and told her that he has found ‘the love of his life’ and she had no choice but to go back home

Nkuna explained how the relationship affected her life, “As I look back, I learned that I did not even know who I was because I had been with this person since I was young.

“I did not do the things that I loved or discovered myself as a person which made me realise and learn that it is important to know who you are before you get into a relationship.”

She added, “When it comes to dating, I also realised that it does not mean that the first person you date should not necessarily be the person you should marry. You should get to know one another first and, if you feel that this person is not for you, it is okay to let go.”

Nkuna said that only after leaving the relationship was she able to do things for herself. She did have doubts about publishing the book as it would bare all her traumas. “I put the book on hold for about a year and a half because I was afraid of what people might think of me, I was not ready to put myself out there. But the book is out now and whoever wants it can contact me as I sell them myself for now.”
