Victim injured during an armed robbery in Kyalami

MIDRAND – A victim was robbed of their jewellery by two armed robbers on New Road.


Midrand police are investigating an armed robbery that took place in Midridge on 23 February.

The spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station Sergeant Matome Tlamela said the incident occurred at about 4pm when the victim was driving from a shopping centre in Kyalami to her home in Glen Austin.

As the victim approached the corner of New and Sixth roads, two suspects allegedly got out of a silver Audi A4 and one smashed the passenger door window with a hammer while the other smashed the driver’s window. They allegedly grabbed the victim’s left arm and removed a Rolex watch, two gold bracelets and a gold ring on her finger.

The suspects allegedly fired two shots at the vehicle before fleeing the scene. The victim was injured during the altercation and taken to hospital.

The police along with security companies were at the scene where a hammer and two cartridges were found. The stolen items are worth about R20 000 and the investigation is ongoing.
