Corporates called to support Botshabelo in Blue Hills

BLUE HILLS – Botshabelo calls on corporates to donate before the end of the financial year.

The Botshabelo non-profit organisation is calling on corporates to donate ahead of the end of the financial year.

The Blue Hills-based organisation runs three primary programmes which include a children’s home that looks after orphans and abandoned babies, a preschool that gives children from disadvantaged families education and a teacher-training programme which trains teachers who assist at crèches all around Johannesburg.

Fundraising manager Maja Muench said that as the financial year ends, many companies with a corporate social investment (CSI) budget might have funding leftover and using it to support an organisation could give much-needed assistance but also avoid losing adequate funding in the financial year.

Fundraiser Makopano Mutloatse said there are numerous programmes that sponsorship can be allocated toward such as the organisation’s Adopt-a-cot programme which gives corporates the opportunity to sponsor a child in the organisation’s care.

She added, “But if the funding goes unallocated towards a specific programme, we usually put into operational costs of the organisation which includes goods for the children or the overheads of running the organisation.”

“We want potential sponsors to discuss and research more about our programmes so that they can find a meaningful of assisting us and what we do.”

Mutloatse concluded that corporates and individual should also think about other causes that they might be interested in. “Find a charity that is a fit with what you would like to engage with, and make your engagement meaningful.”
