Reddford House Blue Hills school celebrated their first matric class which attained a 100 per cent pass rate.
The school’s first class of Grade 12s achieved a 94 per cent bachelor’s degree and a six per cent diploma pass rate.
After handing out the results to learners on 7 January, managing director of the school Ronel Burger said, “Reddford House is really at the cutting edge of education. I think the thing that makes our children very different from everybody else is that it is not all about academics at our school.
“It is a day like today when we celebrate academics. We do very well and we are top of the pops but moreover, our children are ready for life, we give them the self-confidence, life skills, enthusiasm and passion for what lies ahead and that is what life is about.”
She added that her hopes for the learners going forward were to continue doing what they have always done.
The school only had 17 candidates sitting for the National Senior Certificate exams and they achieved 21 distinctions.
Learner Mathew Naidoo attained five distinctions in mathematics, physical science, accounting, life sciences and life orientation. Rushil Vallabh achieved distinctions in mathematics, information technology, life sciences and life orientation.
Four learners ranked in the top five per cent of their subjects nationally. These were Mathew for physical science and life sciences, Taneal Govender for life orientation, Rushil for life orientation and Syuri Yogolingam for life orientation.
College head, Cathy George commended the learners on behalf of the school. She said, “Not only do we congratulate our top achievers but also acknowledge those students who, together with the staff, worked with dedication to attain their personal best and who can be proud of some fine results, hard work and perseverance which paid off.”
