Community members detained a suspect after a bag snatching incident in Kyalami on 17 November.
According to the spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station Sergeant Matome Tlamela, the complainant said she was walking along Main Road in Kyalami when the suspect walked past her and allegedly turned back to grab her handbag, containing her phone, clothing, keys, identification and cash.
The suspect fled into nearby bushes before the complainant screamed for help.
The complainant was assisted by two passersby who searched for the suspect in the bushes. Tlamela added that the community members were able to find the suspects and detained him before alerting the police.
According to Tlamela, the suspect was handed over to the Midrand Police Station and was charged with common robbery.
