Youngsters shine in Sanesa League

MIDRAND – Twelve riders beautifully represented Beaulieu Preparatory School at this year's Sanesa nationals.


The South African National Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) League came to a close for the year at the nationals competition held at Misty Meadows.

A total of 245 primary schools, including Beaulieu Preparatory School, were represented with 1 018 young riders competing in the biggest show of the year.

According to Ian Wright who is the head of communications Kyalami Schools, Beaulieu Preparatory School and Midrand were once again well represented with a total of 12 riders competing in the Core League Nationals, two very young learners in the newcomers challenge, one athlete in vaulting (held in Cape Town) and one rider in the Stadium Eventing National Championships.

“On a schools level, besides winning Top Gauteng Primary School at the Gauteng finals, Beaulieu Preparatory finished third in the South African National ranking with two of their riders in the SA Top 10.”

Wright added that the school’s equestrian captain, Sienna Blaauw, very proudly won the SA Top Rider Points or victrix ludorum on her versatile and talented pony, Kartouche, while her sister, Jenna Blaauw, came a very impressive fifth in SA on her pony, Forsight Truce.

“All Beaulieu Prep riders are to be commended for their professional behaviour and can be very proud of their achievements against South Africa’s best young riders.”

Wright concluded, “This brings to a close another highly successful equestrian year for Beaulieu Preparatory and one in which our children excelled on and off the competition ground. The school’s riding team has also ably assisted two young development riders with riding kit for the Sanesa shows as well as supporting the Shumbashaba Hippotherapy programme with various donations and time.”
