Klipfontein View and Kya Sands gets a mobile clinic from the City

KLIPFONTEIN – The City of Johannesburg officially delivered the mobile clinic on 6 November.

The residents of Klipfontein View, Kya Sands and surrounding areas will now be serviced with a mobile clinic, provided by the City of Johannesburg, which was officially launched on 6 November in Klipfontein View, Midrand.

MMC for Health and Social Development, Dr Mpho Phalatse was joined by MMC for Group Corporate and Shared Services, Ntombi Khumalo and Chief Whip of Council, Kevin Wax as they delivered the mobile clinic to residents.

Phalatse said, “This is the fourth operating mobile clinic in the City of Johannesburg, with six more set to be rolled out to other far-reaching areas by 2020.”

The City has said in the past that it has resolved to provided mobile clinics to areas they feel have been neglected by the healthcare system.

The city-wide project has cost R30 million and will offer the followings services:

Chronic treatment including HIV counselling and testing. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation, TB screening and treatment
Mother-and-child treatment including, integrated management of childhood diseases and antenatal screening
Family planning services, PAP smears and prostate cancer screening
Treatment of minor ailments.

The clinic staff includes two primary healthcare trained nurses, two general nurses, an enrolled nursing assistant, admin assistant, a general worker and a driver.

The mobile clinic will visit Klipfontein View on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8am to 3pm. Kya Sands will get their visits on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8am to 3pm.
