A new dawn for Diwali

HALFWAY HOUSE – A special Diwali celebration was hosted by the New Dawn Senior Citizen's Club.

The New Dawn Senior Citizen’s Club celebrated Diwali at the Purple Lounge in Midrand on 20 October.

Vice chairperson of the club Sandra Pillay said, “We’re a club that gets together once a week. A lot of our members have grandchildren and are lonely. So we want to get together and have fun.

“The motive of the club is ‘social upliftment’ and to give us a reason to go on. As older people we are not redundant, we are the root of the community and want to give back.”
