Cops nab two suspects

MIDRAND – The Midrand police arrested two suspects during a roadblock who were in possession of an unlicensed firearm and suspected stolen property.


Midrand police arrested two suspects while one is still at large during Operation Okae Molao on 17 October.

The arrest was made during a roadblock on Summit Road headed by Captain Thapelo Molepo with help from the Midrand Community Policing Forum and local security companies. The three suspects were in a Honda BVR and officers stopped the vehicle.

They searched the car finding one unlicensed firearm, live ammunition and four suspected stolen cell phones.

The spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station Constable Eliot Mabulane said officers arrested two of the suspect but one fled the scene.

The two arrested suspects are currently detained at the Midrand Police Station and are expected to appear in the Midrand Magistrates’ Court facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of the suspected stolen property.

The police are also on the lookout for the suspect who fled the scene.
