Scammers hit Rabie Ridge community members

Rabie Ridge – Rabie Ridge Police Station warns community members of scams being done in the area.

Rabie Ridge Police Station urges community members not to fall victim to scammers.

After a number of incidents which were reported recently, spokesperson, Constable Jacob Nlhongo said that a number of people laid complaints that they were robbed of their money.

“When we did further investigations, some victims said they were approached by people who told them that they would multiply the money they had in their bank accounts.

“The victims gave the suspects their bank cards and Pin codes as requested, and later noticed that all their money was gone without even recalling who they handed their cards and Pins to.”

Nhlongo said the victims visit the station claiming that they have been robbed, when in reality it is not a robbery but rather them handing over their money to criminals, people they do not know.

“Other scammers come and tell community members that they will give them jobs if only they can pay a fee for a clock card.

“These are some of the complaints we come across on a daily basis. It is surprising how our community is still falling victim to these kinds of scams.”

Nhlongo urges members of the community to do away with short cuts especially since the festive season is approaching.

“We at the Rabie Ridge Police Station are requesting anyone with information to come forward so that we can arrest these suspects who are terrorising our community. Community members can also contact me on 071 6757 400 if they want to assist.
