Children learn all about road safety, the fun way

KYALAMI – Puma Energy hosts Winnie Mandela Primary learners to give them fun lessons on road safety.

Fuel company Puma Energy welcomed learners of Walter Sisulu Primary School and hosted them at the Festival of Motoring while teaching them about road safety.

The fuel company had prepared a fun themed learning experience while celebrating their seventh annual Puma Energy Road Safety Campaign at the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit.

The company’s head of marketing and corporate affairs in Africa, Itumeleng Matlaila, explained the purpose of their campaign. “We are the fuel sponsors of the Festival of Motoring and what we are trying to do is to touch on every element that is to do with our business, and safety touches at the heart of our community work,” she said

“We wanted our schoolchildren to experience the fun of the Festival of Motoring while learning at the same time because we lose far too many kids on our roads.”

Global head of corporate social responsibility at the company, Charlotte Dauphin added, “Road safety is also a huge part of our business. We have just launched our seventh road safety campaign… it is so important because we have to educate children from a young age because they do walk to school and then they have to be aware of their surroundings.”

Puma Energy Road Safety ambassador Phillip Kekana said, “They [Puma] are also passionate about road safety and I teach road safety and do advance driver training with people.”

Referring to the country’s high accident rate Kekana added, “Something needs to change, that is why I joined forces with them. Puma is inspiring that change on road safety and they try very hard to contribute and change the world in that respect.”
