Halfway House promotes sport

MIDRAND – Halfway House Primary School hosted eight schools from around Midrand and surrounding areas for a full day of sports.

Halfway House Primary School hosted eight schools from around Midrand and surrounding areas for a sports day comprising of netball and soccer at their school premises in Midrand.

On 17 August, Mikateka Primary School, Nizamiye School Midrand, Gallagher Combined School, Riversands Primary School, Sagewood School, Amazing Grace Private, and Dulce September Primary School all came to battle it out in sporting activities to keep this year’s titles in netball and soccer presented by Halfway House Primary School.

Sharing some insight about the event was Colbert Mjekevu who is sports organizer for Halfway House Primary and the U13 soccer coach.

Mjekevu said that the purpose of the event was to see learners invested in sports. “We noticed that currently learners were losing their interest toward sports and one of the contributory factors was because the departments and organisations set out to promote sports in schools are not able to keep up with the demands in sports.

“Therefore, we thought that as a big school in the Midrand area, we should come up with our own thing that would encourage our learners and other schools.”
