RABIE RIDGE – Rabie Ridge Police Station staff bid farewell to one of their members who they lost in a fatal car accident.

Rabie Ridge Police Station staff members held a memorial service in honour of their colleague who they lost to a car crash at the end of May.

Colleagues, friends and family members of the late Sergeant Mbuyedzedzo Mutshekwa gathered at Living Ministries Church on 5 June to bid farewell and to celebrate his life before his official burial, which took place at his hometown Venda in Limpopo.

Many expressed their sadness at the loss and referred to the late sergeant as a person of integrity and respect for his work, colleagues and the community which he served.

Rabie Ridge Police Station Commander Colonel Johanna Ngoma said that Sergeant Mutshekwa was a dedicated serving member. “I’m standing here with great grief to be talking about one of our members who has departed.

“I can attest that the sergeant was a very professional person. I remember once after leaving him in charge when I took leave, he would call to ask for assistance whenever he did not understand anything. All he wanted was his work to be done properly.”

The commander ended her speech by saying that if the family needs support with their grief, they should contact the station.

It was found that Sergeant Mutshekwa was in a car crash on his way home from work on 28 May at Wierdabrug. The Station Commander said investigations are still underway.
