Local artist aims straight for top in entertainment

MIDRAND – The young and inspiring artist is set to perform in Asia and America.


A young, dynamic Kyalami-based artist has a passion for modelling, singing, dancing and acting.

Selene Chiang (17) has a broad collection of skills ranging from fencing to archery and even to parkour. The youngster showcased her extensive skills on 6 and 7 October last year at Silverstar Casino in front of International industry professionals such as independent casting director for Tyler Perry Studios Rhavynn Drummer, Blaze Johnson from The Voice America, the junior producer for The Steve Harvey Show Nate Butler and even the New York Film Academy.

“I believe in a future that is bigger than my current dream. For me, every opportunity will be a stepping stone that will solidify my future goal of becoming an internationally working actress and model,” she said.

Chiang will be departing with the Arts Africa group on 30 June where she will perform and attend workshops with international agents, managers, producers, casting directors and record labels from Asia, America, and Europe.

The self-motivated youngster has an undeniable passion and persistence to excel in everything she does. She is certain that she will excel in life and believes that she will inspire the youth of South Africa to live and achieve their dreams.

“After I matriculate this year, I plan on applying for scholarships to universities abroad and getting a professional degree and qualification in acting to further enhance my knowledge in my craft and skill in the entertainment industry whilst getting professional experience in the practical field of acting,” Chiang concluded.
