[VIDEO]: Voters queue in Midrand voting stations as Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga makes her mark

MIDRAND – Voting at the Kanana Community Hall and Gallagher Combined School were off to slow start, and many first-time voters shared why they made their mark today.

The voting process in Kanana Community Hall in Rabie Ridge, Midrand seems to be going smoothly with many voters lining up to cast their votes.

Midrand Reporter Ofentse Ditlopo reported that the service at the community hall was great with queues moving at a faster rate than expected, with the queues shortening as the day went on.

The weather has become a topic of concern with storm clouds gathering but this did not seem to bother some, such as Basic Education Minister Angie Motskhega, who joked that she shouldn’t have woken up so early to vote. She voted at the station at Gallagher Combined School, queuing up since 6.45am. She advised the youth that it was important to vote, saying voting is a responsibility and it is a way for basic services to be delivered.
