Midrand Rovers won’t go down without a fight

MIDRAND – Midrand-based Super Rovers FC beat Donchester FC at Rabie Ridge Stadium.

Super Rovers Football Club remained triumphant after defeating Donchester Football Club 2–1 in the SAB League Fixture at Rabie Ridge Stadium on 13 April.

The Midrand-based soccer team was losing 0–1 in the first half and came back to the score two goals in the second half after Tebogo Ntsoane saw a goal scoring opportunity during a penalty. Super Rovers continued to secure their place in the league, with Marcus Damons scoring another brilliant goal during an open play to make it 2–1.

“I had confidence and I believed in myself when I took the decision to take the penalty and scored it. We had a great game and it really boosted my confidence,” said penalty scorer, Ntsoane.

Super Rovers FC coach, Lebogang Phaka said, “We started slowly and we got punished for that but some good incisive football got us back in the game. Most importantly, the team showed courage and did their best, we ultimately got over the line with a fantastic effort and thanks to the supporters for carrying us through it.”

Damons, who scored another brilliant goal, told Midrand Reporter that the win was well deserved because they started off on the wrong foot by conceding first.

“Seeing that I was on the bench at the beginning of the game, I had to observe and pay attention to where we were going wrong to ensure that when I get a chance to go in the field. I follow the coach’s instructions to get us the win and that is exactly what I did,” Damons concluded.
