Reddam House netball steps up to the plate

MIDRAND – In the semi-finals, both teams stepped up to the plate, producing a fine showing.

Reddam House Helderfontein were recent participants in the Saheti Sevens netball festival.

The Midrand school, only in its third year of existence, does not have Grade 12 learners yet and for this reason, the girls had a big challenge competing against older girls.

The school’s U16 side comprised U14 and U15 players, whereas the open team was made up of U16 and U17 girls. The games were played at high intensity and speed, with Reddam struggling to adapt to the pace of the games in the opening stages.

In the semi-finals, both teams stepped up to the plate, producing a fine showing. The open team was crowned the winners of the bowl trophy but the U16 team lost in the final.

According to Reddam House sports coordinator, Tanaka Manjegwa, they have had many injuries of late which led them to shuffling the players around.

However, the teams will be looking to bounce back in the upcoming netball league which is due to get underway next term.

“We’re hoping that most of our players will be injury-free when the netball league gets underway,” said Manjegwa.
