Christ Church Preparatory and College celebrate the joy of stories

NOORDWYK – The Christ Church Preparatory and College took part in World Read Aloud Day.

The learners of Christ Church Preparatory and College celebrated the joy of stories by taking part in World Read Aloud Day on 1 February.

The librarian at the school Loren Frost said, “World Read Aloud Day was started by LitWorld in 2009 to highlight using reading to change the world. Reading to a small child helps them to begin the journey of learning in a loving and safe way.

“One of my greatest joys is sharing books with the children at our school and seeing the joy of reading grow in them.”

The day formed part of the school’s efforts to foster reading throughout their grades. “By getting our whole school to read to each other, we wanted to show that reading to someone and being read to can be fun.”

Older learners took a trip down to the preparatory school to engage with the younger learners and read stories to them.

“It was wonderful to watch how much fun was being had and how many connections were made between the bigger pupils and the little ones. The school was abuzz with pupils taking on characters, books being swopped and little groups enjoying being together sharing a story.”
