#ICYMI: Two suspects cuffed for theft of Eskom’s assets at Glen Austin substation

GLEN AUSTIN – The suspects will appear in court soon on charges of tampering with, damaging or destroying essential infrastructure.

Two suspects were arrested last Thursday, 27 December, for stealing Eskom’s equipment on its network in the Glen Austin suburb in Midrand.

This is according to a statement issued by Eskom today, 31 December 2018.

The statement further stated that the suspects were arrested by the Axon Security reaction team.

Eskom acting general manager in Gauteng, Daphne Mokwena, expressed her appreciation to the Axon Security reaction team and the community in Glen Austin for assisting Eskom to make these arrests, the statement said.

“The Gauteng Operating Unit has been experiencing a lot of theft which result in loss of supply to its customers”, added Mokwena.

The suspects will appear in court soon on charges of tampering with, damaging or destroying essential infrastructure.
