#N3RoadClosure: Travelling to or from the coast this Sunday? Here’s what you need to know

JOBURG – Traffic congestion may be experienced between Hilton and Mooi River.

The Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) has warned of a temporary road closure on the N3 Toll Route near Tweedie in Kwazulu-Natal on Sunday, 4 November.

Traffic congestion may be experienced between Hilton and Mooi River as Eskom plans to replace overhead cables at the Petronet substation (near Tweedie) and at the Midmar pump station.

All northbound lanes towards Johannesburg and southbound lanes towards Pietermaritzburg in the above-mentioned vicinity will be closed from 8am to 11am.

The RTI plans to place heavy vehicles on either side of the closure. Traffic will be diverted at Midmar (interchange 103) northbound and at Nottingham Road/Mount West (interchange 132) southbound.

The N3 Toll Concession, responsible for the management of the N3 Toll Route between Cedara and Heidelberg, alerts motorists to plan ahead for traffic disruptions and delays.

The RTI will manage traffic accommodation during the closure and N3TC’s Route Patrol Teams will be on standby to provide further assistance.

Road users expecting to travel in this region on 4 November are advised to confirm the status of the road closure:

  • N3TC’s 24-hour Helpline on 0800 N3 Help (0800 63 4357)
  • The RTI Communications Centre (033 342 3939).
