#ICYMI: Some parts of Blue Hills without water for six days

MIDRAND – Joburg Water is engaging with City of Tshwane on the matter.

Residents of some parts of Blue Hills in Midrand have been left high and dry after experiencing a water cut for the past six days.

Rahaat Shoda a resident at Stonewood Estate said they have been without since 21 September. She said they have been contacting Joburg Water, and the City of Tshwane but haven’t received any joy.

“It’s been six days without water. The rest of Midrand has water back already. This is honestly really unfair to us. If they have restrictions, it must be cut for two hours or so per area. All the estates across us and next to us have water back,” she said.

Joburg Water spokesperson Isaac Dhludhlu said the water restrictions were imposed by Rand Water due to the high volume of water usage. He also said that Blue Hills is supplied by the City of Tshwane which is responsible for implementing the water cuts.

“Last night [20 September] we were told that water restrictions have been lifted. However, this morning I received a call from a company based in Blue Hills complaining about lack of water. We are liaising with the City of Tshwane to find out what the problem is,” said Dhludhlu.

In the meantime, Dhludhlu said residents can make use of the water tanks provided until the matter has been resolved.
