Midrand Knights Cricket Club to host Annual Junior Cricket Festival

MALBORO – Local cricket club prepares for Annual Junior Cricket Festival.

Midrand Knights Cricket Club will host its second Annual Junior Cricket Festival and it will be even bigger and better than last year.

The club’s vice chairperson, Jeremy Meiring said the inaugural event last year was a hit, and this year will see 12 teams from nine clubs competing at Marlboro Stadium on 1 and 2 September.

There will be U11, U13 and senior women’s teams.

Apart from the cricket itself, Meiring said there would be a cook-off competition and participants would be able to cook a dish of their choice.

Other cricket-related activities, music and entertainment, and refreshments on sale will also keep everybody in good spirits.

The players will be given breakfast, lunch and a light snack, and participation medals.

“We urge the Midrand community and businesses to please support the club in its efforts to raise awareness of the game of cricket and taking it to previously disadvantaged areas,” Meiring said.

“We will provide stalls for interested vendors as well as advertising space on our brochures.”

The event has been largely sponsored by CRI Fluid Systems and 1 Stop Fitment Centre.

Meiring said anyone interested in buying advertising space, having a stall or participating in the cook-off, can contact the club treasurer, Phani Lingam on 071 610 3060.
