Two street vendors bust with dagga in Vorna Valley

MIDRAND – Suspects hid the dagga under leaves on the ground.

 

Two street vendors were arrested on 14 August in Vorna Valley for allegedly dealing in dagga following a joint operation between the Midrand police and Ria Sebetsa Security Services.

Founder of the security company Danny Maduray said the arrests were conducted after a four-day investigation by his team. He said his team monitored the suspects’ daily movements on the corner of Harry Gualan and Anton Hartman roads for four days before the arrests.

“The security officers used unmarked cars during the investigation,” he said.

“It was discovered that they had hidden the dagga under leaves on the ground. The officers saw people coming to buy and the dealers fetching it if they didn’t have any on them.”

The dagga was packed in small plastic bags.

Some of the goods the street vendor was selling along with drugs.

Dagga found during an operation by Ria Sebetsa Security Services and Midrand police.The spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station, Sergeant Matome Tlamela, confirmed the arrest. “The suspects are facing charges of possession and dealing of drugs.

“They are also facing a charge of bribery after trying to bribe the officers on the scene.”
