Read all about the youngest member of the performing team of Lipizzaner stallions

MIDRAND – The youngest member of the performing team was not yet five months old.

The South-African Lipizzaners in Kyalami held their Mother’s Day performance with a show to remember.

The youngest member of the performing team of Lipizzaner stallions during the performance was not yet five months old. Pluto Cypriana was transported with his surrogate mother Ella from the stud farm in Hartebeespoort to the Lipizzaner Centre to parade in front of an audience for a few minutes.

Lipizzaners representative Irene Polchet explained,”Pluto Cypriana’s pedigree reads like a family saga and is especially relevant to the Mother’s Day celebration. Lipizzaners start performing early in life.

“His father, Pluto Elet, has two mothers. His biological mother Elet died when he was only a few weeks old and his adoptive mother Erdem, an old mare in the herd, accepted him of her own accord and started producing milk to feed him.”

Polchet said the little dark foal with his grey mother was one of the highlights of the Mother’s Day show and attracted many visitors after the performance. “He will return to the SA Lipizzaner Centre in three years’ time to start his training to become a fully-fledged member of the Lipizzaner Team.”
