UPDATE: Police on scene of attempted land invasion in Waterfall

WATERFALL – It is believed that the fence was partly damaged in the attempted land invasion and several arrests have been made.

Police are on the scene at Waterfall after some people from Ward 32 in Alexandra reportedly tried to tear down the fence of a property and attempted to build shacks.

Police spokesperson Captain Meyer told the Midrand Reporter that public order police were deployed at the scene now Waterfall.

By 3.30pm, the crowd was moving out of the area and no shacks had been erected. The situation is calm, said Meyer.

ENCA is reporting that the people were led by an EFF ward leader and, at this stage, it is believed that the fence was partly damaged in the land grab attempt.

The property seems to be in the area of Allandale Road and Old Pretoria Main Road in Waterfall.

This attempted land grab follows after many people gathered at a piece of land in Marlboro near the Far East Bank Drive and Gautrain bridge intersection this morning, 24 March.
