Midrand police target Waterfall

MIDRAND – Midrand police held a safety awareness campaign at Waterfall Corner with the aim to reduce motor vehicle theft.

 

Midrand police engaged in a joint awareness campaign with Metro police and emergency services at the Waterfall Corner shopping complex on 24 February.

Midrand Police Station Commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso revealed that he will heavily focus on having his officers on the ground and improve the relationship between the police and residents.

Tsotsotso has worked on curbing crime through continuous joint operations, patrols and police visibility.

“The awareness campaign was aimed at reducing robberies and theft of motor vehicles in the area,” said the Midrand police spokesperson Sergeant Matome Tlamela.

The police distributed pamphlets with tips on general safety, how to safely carry money and road safety.

The event was successful and the community interacted with all the stakeholders and the community representatives said they hope to see more campaigns like this at all the malls in Midrand.
