Case postponed due to unavailability of interpreter

The Midrand Magistrates’ Court has kept an alleged robber in custody in order to secure the home language interpreter of the accused. The accused is a XiTsonga speaker and there is no permanent interpreter at the court. The case has been postponed to 22 February.

Dagga possession cases heard

A 24-year-old man was granted R500 bail by Midrand Magistrates’ Court. The accused was arrested after being found in possession of dagga, estimated to be weighing about 2.84 grams. The case has been postponed to 8 March for further investigation.

Another drug-related case against a 31-year-old man, who was found to be in possession of dagga weighing about 4.20 grams, was postponed at the same court. The case has been remanded to 7 March for the state to disclose contents of the docket to the defense.

Woman in court for allegedly stealing from employer

The case against a 25-year-old woman accused of theft was postponed at Midrand Magistrates’ Court in order to allow the state time to verify her address before making a bail application. The domestic worker is accused of stealing a television and several items from her employer. The case has been remanded to 22 February for address verification purposes.
