Challenges in Midrand to be conquered

MIDRAND – Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe has shared some of the challenges she faces in her ward and how best to tackle them.

Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe shared some of the challenges she faces in her ward and how best the community can pull together to resolve some of these issues.

“It has been a blessing to have a husband and two children that understand what it requires to be a councillor, hence they give me the space needed in order for me to deliver better services to the people in my ward,” said Deppe.

“I have had to put out many fires the past year but they are getting less and less as the City continues their quest to improve through the leadership of Herman Mashaba and elected councillors.

According to Deppe, there is a huge backlog in infrastructure. “This needs to be addressed but also many residents have not been honest about paying their rates and taxes and this does not help a city that needs to deliver services.

“Traffic grid lock is something Ward 132 residents have to live with on a daily bases, while putting up with dusty roads, unlawful taxi drivers, but until all the provincial roads are built this will not stop.”

Deppe highlighted that the farm roads in Crowthorne and Carlswald need to be reconstructed and that developers must comply to the building control standards to ensure less corruption and a better living environment for residents.

“Thank you to the developers who are still willing to invest in Ward 132 and to all those residents that support me in the enormous task at hand.”
