Vorna Valley man arrested for alleged murder of his girlfriend

MIDRAND – Relationship ends in bloodshed.

A Vorna Valley man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his girlfriend who was found dead in an open veld on 31 March last year.

The man was arrested by Ivory Park police following an investigation. The woman who was from Ivory Park Ext. 2 was found with multiple stab wounds on her chest.

Station commander for Ivory Park Police Station, Brigadier David Ngcobo said, “We are confident that we did all the necessary work despite not finding the murder weapon.”

The victim and the 39-year-old suspect were in a long-term relationship at the time of her murder, however, the motive of the murder has not yet been established.

Ngcobo thanked the detectives involved in the arrest for their patience in gathering the evidence that led to the arrest, which he hopes will lead to a conviction.

“It may have taken a while to connect the dots but what matters is that someone has eventually been found and is now supposed to account to the law and, by extension, to the family of the deceased.”

The suspect will be charged with murder and is expected to appear in Tembisa Magistrates’ Court soon.
