‘For Women’ established to assist abuse victims and survivors

MIDRAND – First for Women Insurance has launched an online platform called For Women to assist victims and survivors of abuse.

A new online platform that offers speedy help to victims of abuse has been launched in support of 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children which runs until 10 December.

The new platform offers information including contact details for safe houses, rape counsellors, child welfare and other organisations that assist in fighting abuse, as well as a downloadable application for protection orders.

Non-profit organisations that are involved and represented on this platform include Lawyers Against Abuse, the Epic Foundation, Fathers in Africa, Healing Hands Foundation, Home of Hope, SOS Children’s Home, the Centre for Community Justice and Development and the Tears Foundation, among others.

People who visit the site can get more information on all of these organisations and how they can help and get their contact details to reach out for help.

There are also resources to educate and equip women for abuse situations.

This platform is called ‘For Women’ and has also been endorsed by the Minister for Women, Susan Shabangu.

“Hundreds of admirable campaigns denouncing women abuse have been launched yet, in South Africa, women abuse remains rife. A more cohesive step must be taken to create meaningful change and instead of dissipating efforts,” said Robyn Farrell, the managing director of First for Women Insurance.

“For Women was developed by First for Women Insurance and is powered by Forgood.

“Over the last 12 years, we have been working with extraordinary organisations all playing their part in the fight against women abuse. Now we are bringing South Africa’s collective power together.”
Shabangu added,” This year marks the 19th anniversary of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against

Women and Children campaign in South Africa under the theme, Count Me In; Together Moving a Non-Violent South Africa Forward.”
