Hair salon allegedly broken into in Midrand

MIDRAND – Criminals target hair salon in latest business break-in case.

Criminals recently broke into a hair salon in Noordwyk and allegedly stole Brazilian hair and wigs worth more than R20 000.

A hairdresser at the salon, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said criminals did not steal any other hair salon products or hair dryers.

“We suspect that it is someone who knows where we keep our stock. The Brazilian hair was taken from a locked storeroom. The salon houses hair dressers, a nail technician and a massage therapist.”

The salon premises do not have a security guard.

She said, “We are worried about our clients’ wigs, this is not good for our business. We also don’t understand why Midrand police took a statement but never returned to take fingerprints. Now many people have come into the salon.”

Spokesperson for Midrand Police Station, Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono confirmed that a case had been opened at the police station and advised business owners to be alert as the festive season approaches.

Semono said, “The complainant must report the case to Sandton police and request for a team who do fingerprints to come to the salon and do so.”
