Midrand police out in full force

MIDRAND – Midrand police have launched their festive season awareness and visibility campaigns in shopping centres and malls.

Midrand Police Station has conducted several awareness campaigns to increase vigilance and caution among residents who will be shopping at malls during the festive season.

On 11 November, police held an awareness campaign at Kyalami Corner following a fatal shooting which took place at the centre a couple of weeks prior.

On 18 November, Midrand police and provincial officers, together with emergency services, ADT Security and Metro police held an awareness and visibility campaign at the Mall of Africa.

Metro police, emergency services and police officials join hands at the Mall of Africa during the campaign.

Spokesperson for Midrand Police Station, Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono said these campaigns are aimed at making police officials visible so criminals do not target these shopping malls.

“During the festive season, crime tends to increase, therefore police visibility needs to increase as well so that shoppers can feel safe during their holidays,” said Semono.
