Midrand Primary School goes for gold

MIDRAND – Read about what youngsters from Midrand Primary School have been up to.

Nine gymnasts from Midrand Primary School attended the South African Gym Games at the Joni Bach Sports Centre in Pretoria North on 7 October.

The team who represented the school comprised of one boy and eight girls. This was the first time the school competed in the national competition.

“They all took part in the tumbling activities and practiced routine performances. We arrived quite early for the competition which means the pupils had enough time to calm their nerves and practice on unfamiliar competition equipment,” said Midrand Primary School’s sports administrator and gymnastics coach, Masego Mashiane.

Bokamoso Rantso won a silver medal and Oletilwe Modise won a gold medal, making him the national champion for the year in his current discipline, level and age group.

“Congratulations to all the participants, they all braved the rainy weather and gave it their best. I am extremely proud of them. They must continue to work hard and always remember to have fun whilst doing so,” concluded Mashiane.

Oletilwe Modise (middle) lands gold at the South African Gym Games.
