Midrand police continue to fight crime

MIDRAND – Police hopeful that high number of arrests will ensure residents feel safer in their community.

 

Midrand police officers have been adamant on making more arrests so criminals know that there is no room for crime in the area and so that residents feel safer in the community.

During the weekend of 29 September to 2 October, police arrested 27 people for various crimes.

The arrests were as follows:

  • 3 for theft
  • 1 for drunk driving
  • 6 for shoplifting
  • 1 for fraud
  • 1 for possession of a dangerous weapon
  • 2 for possession of dagga
  • 1 for assault
  • 2 for possession of dagga and bribery
  • 1 for housebreaking and theft
  • 1 for bilking
  • 1 for possession of stolen cellphones
  • 2 for assault, domestic violence related
  • 1 for a warrant of arrest
  • 1 for rape
  • 1 for attempted rape and common assault
  • 1 for business burglary
  • 1 for malicious injury to property and assault.

All the suspects appeared in Midrand Magistrates’ Court on 2 October.

The police are hopeful that the transparency of arrests will allow the community to know how vigilant they are and how serious the station is about fighting crime.
