Midrand Striders run for Leon Baker at ArthroChoice Half Marathon

MIDRAND – Getting the legs ready for the spring racing season.

Runners from all over Gauteng will head to the new venue at the Inanda Country Base in Midrand on 20 August for this year’s edition of the annual ArthroChoice Half Marathon.

This is traditionally a popular race with many runners emerging from winter hibernation and getting their legs ready for the spring racing season.

The Midrand Striders running group has dedicated the race to the club’s male captain, Leon Baker who was running on Summit Road when a vehicle collided with him. An appeal to any witnesses who may have seen the accident in the early morning hours on 4 July are requested to come forward and contact Midrand Police Station’s detective department on 011 347 1626.

The ArthroChoice Half Marathon has had great support from the running community over the years and the club would like to see it grow further.

The routes for the various runs take runners through the quiet country roads featuring hills, undulating roads and beautiful views.

The ArthroChoice advanced 21km run, as well as the Pharmaton 10km run, will start at 7am, while the 10km walk will start at 7.15am and the Cova advisory 5km fun run/walk will start at 7.30am.

Entries will be available at the race venue from Saturday 9am and 5am on Sunday.
