Developing exciting Midrand rugby players for the future

MIDRAND — The U14 team lost 0–34 while the U16s were defeated 17–14.

 

The Midrand development rugby U14 and U16 teams had it easy in their previous fixtures until they went head-to-head against Vorentoe High School.

The U14 team lost 0–34 while the U16s was defeated 17–14. “Those were tough games. Vorentoe came well prepared,” said Kwazi Shangase, sports administrator of the development teams and at Midrand High School.

In their previous fixtures, the U14 team beat Kliptown High School 28–0 and the U16s sent Florida Park High School packing with a 39–0 defeat.

“We went up against Florida Park High School and taught them a thing or two about schoolboy rugby. Our U16 team beat them, with Ontatile Mphahlele taking man-of-the-match on the day. These boys are sharpening up to be some exciting rugby players,” added Shangase.

Meanwhile, Midrand High School’s first team lost 7–31 to Vorentoe High School coming off a 31–12 win over Florida Park High School.

“We would love to see the community at our home games. We have made a great effort to play on the weekends so we can see all our supporters,” concluded Shangase.
