It’s all about rugby in Midrand with Tshuma Stingers

MIDRAND – Tshuma Stingers aim to develop rugby in the area.

The Tshuma Stingers, a Midrand-based rugby club, hosted the Southern Knights for the first round of the Golden Lions Senior Grand Challenge on 13 May.

“Despite some handling errors from the team, Tshuma Stingers successfully scored two converted tries while maintaining a solid defence which denied the visitors any points leading to a win of 14–0,” said Tshuma Stingers’ club manager, Barry Nkosi.

Chief executive officer of Tshuma Stingers, Ndumiso Tshuma thanked the coaches, players and management for the hard work put in leading to the team’s third successful win. He also extended his gratitude to the supporters and match officials who braved the weather to make the sporting event a success.

Drake Koka Primary School players take part in a rugby training session hosted by Tshuma Stingers.

Players from the Tshuma Stingers also visited Drake Koka Primary School on 11 May to conduct coaching lessons.

“We were greeted by a large number of pupils who were excited to see us. The visit was in line with the club’s vision to create a local Schools Rugby League through teaching and training rugby at the schools,” said Tshuma.

Tshuma Stingers’ next match will be against the Kagiso Rugby Club on 27 May during the Mazda Midrand Family Meet and Play at Midrand High School.

The community is invited to attend the event.
