A 31-year-old Onkgopotse Antoinette Dickson from Halfway House is a finalist in the Mrs South Africa pageant and is looking for your vote to enable her to claim the crown.

The married mother of two daughters works in corporate South Africa and has just completed her BTech in public relations management, Cum Laude. She is originally from Mahikeng in the North West and said she had to grow up quickly to look after her siblings due to her mother’s epileptic condition.

“I had to look after my siblings from a very young age, finish school and get a job so that I could help them get a higher education as well. I am someone who loves this country and its people. Success to me means seeing people happy and blossom; nothing makes me happier than seeing people happy,” she said.

Dickson entered Miss SA in 2006 but did not make it. She said she has entered Mrs SA because she inspires to make positive changes in the lives of the people in her community, the country and society at large.

“I believe the Mrs South Africa pageant is the platform to help me effect the change I want to see in my community and society as it is a women-empowerment platform. I have been and am involved with community work but this is something I am passionate about doing in my personal capacity,” she added.

She further said she would like to focus on young women and youth development. “Women could be seen as the face of poverty, so I believe that if we start with young women and children in schools, we could help eradicate poverty in our country. I would also like to be involved in cancer initiatives as my stepfather and other people I hold dear to my heart have been affected by this illness,” she continued.
