Private White (37) said he had placed an advert in the Randburg Sun seeking paving and gardening employment in August last year, and two weeks later he received a call from a man who pretended he wanted his services. According to White, the man told him he could work for him full time in the Midrand area and should bring his sleeping material.
Two men picked him up at about 2pm at the Midrand taxi rank and drove a short distance to nearby bushes, where they overpowered and robbed him of his cellphone and a wallet containing R1 200.

Apparently, White tried to open a case at the Midrand Police Station, and failed, because he did not know the registration number of the car and the address of the property.
