Moselane said the crèche was approached by the department to participate in the campaign to ensure the protection of children against certain infections.

The children were immunised with mebendazole deworming tablets (prevents children from intestinal worm infestation) and given vitamin A supplementation drops (strengthens immune system for between the ages of 12–59 months). Nutritional screening for children between the ages of 6–59 months was also conducted and polio vaccine drops were administered to prevent polio (infectious viral disease).

The campaign was supposed to run from 31 October to 18 November but has proceeded past the intended date.

Moselane said she was in full support of the campaign because children were vulnerable to many infections.
