58 arrests in 25 days

MDIRAND – Rabie Ridge Police clamp down on crimes in the area.

 

Rabie Ridge Police Station has reported great arrests and convictions by Rabie Ridge Police Station’s Crime Prevention Unit and the station’s detectives.

Police spokesperson Captain Mofama Masela said, “Police officers at our station are putting in effort to address different crimes affecting the area. We are proud of the results.”

The following arrests were made between 1 and 26 September:

  • 41 suspects arrested for possession of dagga
  • Three drug-dealer suspects arrested
  • One fraud suspect arrested
  • Two hijacking suspects arrested
  • One attempted murder suspect arrested
  • One person arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm
  • Three suspects arrested for rape
  • Three suspects arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle
  • Three suspects arrested for armed robbery.

Convictions from Tembisa Magistrates’ Court:

  • Two suspects were convicted between 13 and 20 September for driving under the influence of alcohol and negligent driving; each suspect was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment or a R3 000 fine.
  • Three suspects were convicted for possession of dagga and sentenced to six months imprisonment or a R2 000 fine and another suspect was fined R1 500 or a three-month prison sentence.
