DA takes Ward 112

MIDRAND – Ward 112 still led by the Democratic Alliance.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) recently won Ward 112 with a 44.98 percent lead, under candidate Madeleine Hicklin.

Hicklin will now take over from former DA ward councillor, Candice James who is now the councillor for Ward 93.

The new Ward 112 councillor said, “The DA Ward 112 won five of the six voting stations by large margins and lost in Country View voting station with five votes to the African National Congress (ANC). We might lodge a query as the loss was so marginal.

“I believe that running for public office, such as becoming a DA ward councillor, is a calling. I humbly acknowledge the faith shown in the Democratic Alliance and myself by the residents of Ward 112.”

She thanked those residents who came out to vote and who showed that there is a need to effect change in the city. “In addition, I want to acknowledge those residents who gave of their time to assist us on Election Day in the manning of the voting stations. Also, I want to thank the leadership of the DA for their commitment to the people of South Africa and for their invaluable assistance over the past eight months.”
