Kanana residents want nyaope out

MIDRAND – The Kanana community pleads with police to arrest nyaope suspect and shut down places which sells the drug.

 

Rabie Ridge Police Station recently received anonymous calls from residents in Kanana who complained about a local resident allegedly using nyaope and provided information which led to the suspect’s arrest.

They proceeded to the address, and after searching the suspect and his residence, the police allegedly found nyaope and arrested him.

Rabie Ridge Police Station’s spokesperson, Constable Jacob Nhlongo said, “When police arrived in the community, residents told police officers that they want people who sell nyaope to be arrested.

“Residents also want places that sell the drug to be shut down. They alleged that they are victims of nyaope-related crimes and criminals break into homes at night to steal things they can sell to support their habit.”

The 46-year-old suspect was detained at Rabie Ridge Police Station and will appear in Tembisa Magistrates’ Court soon for possession of an illegal substance.
