10 years for house robbery

VORNA VALLEY – A house robber has been sentenced for a crime he committed in 2010.

Tshepo Mosue, a convicted house robber, has been sentenced to 10 years’ direct imprisonment.

Mosue and two accomplices committed a house robbery at Boerneef Street in Vorna Valley in October of 2010. They held the domestic helper and gardener at gunpoint and tied them up with cable ties while they robbed the home of its valuables.

The suspects drove off with the homeowner’s vehicle. The homeowner was not at home at the time of the incident. Midrand police were called to the scene after the robbery.

“A few hours after the robbery the police spotted the [stolen] vehicle in Alexandra and arrested one suspect for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and an unlicenced firearm,” said Constable Matome Tlamela, head of communication at the police station.

“The police are still looking for the other suspects who are still at large.”

Mosue was found guilty by the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court for robbery with aggravated circumstances.

“The station commander, Colonel Steven Moodley and the station management would like to commend the good work of detective Sergeant Nell Mateta for his excellent expertise in investigating this case,” said Tlamela.
