The body was discovered at around 2pm on 18 June by Zimerian Mokholoane, a resident in Vorna Valley.
Mokholoane, who was first on the scene, stated that he was taking a walk near the vlei when he saw a body floating face down in the water.
He immediately called 10111 and police were quickly dispatched to scene. The body is alleged to be that of an ‘elderly gentleman’ who is estimated to be in his late fifties.
The forensic pathology unit arrived at around 5pm to collect the deceased.
An incident report has been filed and the scene has been cleared.
Police were not able to comment at the time of publishing.
