One critical after taxi accident

MIDRAND - Emer-G-Med responded to a taxi that had rolled on the corner of Richards Drive and Suttie Avenue.

At around 9am this morning, Emer-G-Med responded to a serious taxi accident on the corner of Richards Drive and Suttie Avenue in Midrand.

The Advanced Life Support Private Emergency Medical Service tweeted from the scene, stating that twelve people were injured with one person sustaining critical head injuries. Emer-G-Med stated that the critical patient was intubated and placed on life support before being taken to a nearby specialist trauma hospital.

The remaining patients sustained minor to moderate injuries and were treated on-scene before being transported to various nearby hospitals.

Emer-G-Med posted on their Facebook page regarding the accident, stating that taxi had collided with numerous vehicles before overturning – allegedly after it’s brakes failed.

Local authorities were on-scene to investigate the exact events leading up to the collision.
