Registration weekend goes well in Ward 110

MIDRAND – Voting in municipal elections can effect change in communities

The final registration weekend ahead of the 2016 Municipal Elections went off without a hitch in Midrand’s Ward 110. Councillor Stephen Lamola said residents responded to the call for eligible voters to come and register and to update their details during the voter registration weekend of 9 and 10 April.

There were no incidents or complaints reported to him in the ward. He said, “Everything went well, we look forward to a smooth process during elections too.”

A statement issued by the Gauteng Provincial Office of the Electoral Commission reminded communities that ”… in municipal elections voters may only vote where they are registered and voters are reminded that it is a criminal offence to knowingly register in a voting district in which they are not ordinarily resident.”

The municipal elections will be held on 3 August.
